Contempt power of Courts

Friends,

The Contempt power of court is NOT just an academic issue. The power of the Judiciary to jail us for criminal contempt, just for speaking our minds, is of deep concern to us all, because it muzzles aggrieved litigants and gags the media. It prevents even experts like Prashant Bhushan from speaking up on deep issues that are of public importance! Most importantly, it prevents the common man from saying, “Milord, we are not being served, we are being oppressed! Stop doing this!”

We The People need to rise up and speak in one voice to the judiciary, which is frightening us out of our wits! Although it is quite likely that we will individually be tried for Contempt of Court, and jailed for it, we will simply have to take that risk in the national interest and for the larger public good.

Because the buck for corruption everywhere stops with the judiciary, and not with any government.

We need to let our voice of conscience become a lot stronger than our fear of the judiciary.

Warmly,
